Working at McDonald's

It is not a good idea to choose to work at McDonald's as a part-time job for a student. The job has lots of responsibilities. You need to clean the work place before and after the job time as if you are a houskeeper. It is really a heard job for anybody. Every time you need to do something. In example, flipping burgers, giving change, making smoothies and milk shakes. The small pay of $6.25 barely allows you to buy nice shoes. Although no special skills are required to work at a fast food restaurant, no skills are gained there either. There is practically no experience of any sort acquired on this job. In addition to that, no insurance benefits are offered. Seeing big, lazy people there creates fatigue in workers. I wouldn't be surprised if some first time workers would feel nauseous or disgusted with the look of overweight customers, especially kids. All that boredom of standing behind the counter encourages employees to reach out for burgers, or whatever is close. McDonald's is the last place a person would like to work at. It takes guts to continue working at this place.

Going to the Movies

Going to the movies is a positive experience. Going to the movies makes me happy because I can spend time with my family or a friend. I like to go to the movies because it is commerical free with lots of noise and excitement. Watching movies is time worth spending. Popcorn, chocolate bars, and soft drinks are the most enjoyable snacks driving while watching a movie. The effect of a great screen is so realistic that you become part of the movie. Watching movies gives new ideas to choosing an outfit for yourself. For immigrants like me, watching a movie gives an opportunity to learn English and practice understanding. I forget my problems after watching a movie or two. I feel as if I traveled somewhere else.

Here and There

Of all the places in the world, Florida is the most different place from the Russia. However, it is Gainesville that I start seeing as my home town. I admit there are more cars here, and people walk only for exercise, but it is the bus and taxi system that remains the most loyal transportation all over the world. From a kid to an elder man everyone uses buses. I came to realize that even though people speak defferent languages, they watch the exact same soap operas, movies, and shows. Americans have the same interests, ambitions, and troubles as Russians do. Each generation no matter from what country repeats the cycle of life. A person grows, gets education, goes to work, and eventually dies. Every person has the common fear of missing something at the end of his life. Even Americans, just like Russians, get caught up with the busy daily rythm of work and forget that we live under the same sky. Sunset in Russia is exact same in America. Life in U.S. is no different than in any other place on the World.

Living Under the Same Sky

America is a good place for place for people form many different cultures to try to get along. I hope that everyone thinks the same way because only languages and traditions separate us. I teach my child to ignor differences. She has friends from Vietnam, India, Russia, Poland, Ukraine, and America. One of our family friends is from America, but his grandmother was from France and his grandfather was from Germany. Just because these countries are separated doesn't mean the people have to be separated, too. Everyone tries to survive in this world no matter from what cultrure or nation they are from. Different kind of men and women are gathered in the US. These people know about common problems and that's why they try to help each other out. Usually people want to learn foreign languages for better understanding each other and to avoid unnecessary conflicts. The reason why people get along is because they know how to honor each others' traditions. For friendly and humane people there are no races or differences.
